The songs listed showcase Dave Bartholomew's vocals. Dave Bartholomew wrote and arranged as many as four thousand songs for a variety of New Orleans' top rhythm and blues artists during the 1950s and 1960s. Many of Dave Bartholomew's compositions were later recorded by Smiley Lewis, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Shirley & Lee, Chris Kenner, Lloyd Price and other local artists.

During the later 1950s, Dave and his band worked behind the scenes on hundreds of New Orleans artists recording sessions. The name Bartholomew may be seen as lyricist on hundreds of New Orleans compositions produced during the 1950s.

Dave Bartholomew perfected the commercial formula for success durign the 1950s. He arranged songs to fit a 2-minute play time, which was in favor with AM radio stations. His songs were simple, with simple rhythms. Most of his songs became popular when sung and released by other artists in New Orleans. Fats Domino, Smiley Lewis, and Sugar Boy Crawford released several songs which were written by Dave Bartholomew.
