Snooks EaglinBorn: Fird Eaglin Jr, January 21, 1936 New Orleans, LA Snooks Eaglin is a Louisiana musician who is noted as much for his influence in the Delta as a creative lyricist and unusual guitarist. Snooks Eaglin played guitar with the Cane Cutters on many of Sugar Boy Crawford's Checker label cuts during 1953 and 1954. Thereafter, Snooks was a New Orleans street singer during his early career after leaving the Cane Cutters. Snooks Eaglin recorded many vinyl LPs for the New Orleans label, Black Top, during the 1980s. We recently added a discography of 45-rpm records by this artist!!! Snooks Eaglin is an outstanding performer who was overlooked because he seemingly refused to produce music just for the sake of popularity. He wrote hundreds of songs, and these songs were covered by artists as diverse as Earl King and Eric Clapton. Snooks Eaglin is a creative genius who deserves to be recognized as a pioneer in a study of New Orleans music history!!! We've highlighted a few of our favorites from his later works.
